Our family will be growing.
Here's how it began.
16 years ago, as Rob and I talked marriage and discussed what our family would look like, we talked about how adoption might fit in.
Over the course of the years, we had gone as far as to pinpoint how we wanted the kids to fit between the ages of our own kids. And yes, by 'kids' we mean more than one.
It's always been on our heart to adopt a sibling group.
Time passed and passed...
3 or so years ago we started taking the classes needed to foster or adopt. If you know our family, you also know that 3 years ago was not a good time for us. Really, what were we doing taking classes? We had a lot of work to do at home first.
Still on our minds...
Now.
We've started taking classes again and they will be completed in the next few months. We hope to add our sibling group to the family by summer. We are open to a lot of things: race, age, disability, etc. but we know our limitations too. We can honestly say that we don't care to repeat what we went through with Evan, but if it does, we are certainly better suited for it. As far as a number, it could be 2 more, it could be 6 more.
For those of you that haven't been to our home, yes there's room. We do need to finish off 2 bedrooms, but it should be an easy job :-) However, we're going to need a bigger van...
Crazy? Perhaps. But please don't tell us that.
This is something that has been on our hearts for 16 years. It's time. It's well thought out. It won't be easy. We may want to give them back (just like our own kids at times). But, we won't. We'll love them like they're our own and guide them through life, just as we do with Abby, Evan and Sawyer, who by the way...are 100 % on board. If they weren't...
We'd wait some more.
So, please support us in our decision with prayers and love. It won't be easy, but it's time.
